After power failure I do not able to start my Compaq. I suppose to be can choose from which drive I want to be boot but now this option is disappeared. I tried to use the repair function from a XP pro setup disk. It did not help. I’d like to set up the original home edition with all the original software’s. In drive D I have a bunch a file about 4-5 GB but I couldn’t find anything what is helpful in this case? How can I start the recovery process?

Sometimes, power anomalies can upset the bios.
Remove all power plugs then remove motherboard battery for one minute.
Refit the battery and restart the PC.
You may also have to reset bios defaults and hard drive detect.

You should transfer any files you need from your D drive
to a different drive and then reinstall windows. The
reason the compaq logo is not displayed is because your
BIOS was reset, if you explore the options in your BIOS
I'm sure you'll find an option to turn on the Compaq logo.

The power failure is happened after a minute or so when
I started the recovery process. I can press F1 and this
end in the BIOS.
I tried to fix the boot sector but did not help. My
neighbor tried to help me. He set up a new version of win
xp on drive C. Now is only drive D is original but I can
not able to start the recovery system from there. The
Compaq logo is not there any more. I have an xp pro
version in my computer but I would like to go back to the
original factory setting.
Thanks,
Lucius
