After installing more memory so I can use my DVD, it says
the unkown device is a hi-speed usb device and will
function at reduced speed whn plugged into a non Hi-speed
port. There is no Hi speed host controller installed on
this computer. You must add a hispeed usb host
controller to this computer to obtain maximum
performance. HELP what do I need now!

Congrats with getting more RAM!
Now go out, buy USB 2.0 (a.k.a. "high speed") adapter and enjoy your DVD :)

As far as I know you need to go to Best Buy or Comp USA
and get a small little USB device. It is basically an
upgrade and has about 4 ports on it. It is relatively
inexpensive. Try that first, it should work for you. If
not ask someone at Comp USA if you can gain access to
them and they will be able to help.

Also if you do not have a 1394 (firewire) port, and you have an idea you
will use fireewire in the future (for
instance most Digital video cameras use them for download to a pc) you
might look at a combined 1394 and USB PCI card.
