It isn't possible. You didn't format the drive - you did a Repair
Install instead. Here are links to explain both installation
procedures:

Formatting does not necessarily erase your files, only the record of them. Law enforcement people are aware of this.

There are utilities which overwrite your disk in order to expunge your data.

Yes, we all know that. However, you need data recovery software to see
the previous files. You will not be able to see the Norton Antivirus
folder from a previous Windows installation on a newly formatted and
then clean-installed Windows installation.

Malke,

In general, you're right. Symantec, on the other hand, is writing something
into the boot sector that does survive a simple reformat of C:. The next to
last time I used NAV I found that out by experiment.

You are better off deleting and recreating the C: partition altogether. Whether
or not you can do that and leave D: and E: (if you have data partitions, as I
do), is a matter of being very careful.

The best solution that I found is to move from Symantec, which I did following
the last time I used NAV.

Thanks, Chuck. Just another reason to avoid NAV. I always delete the
partition and create a new one when I'm doing a clean install, so I
never saw that with NAV before. It is So Like Them.

Thanks for the info.
