I recently had to wipe my computer because of a virus. I
have re-installed windows and just then activated it.
After i activated windows a message comes up saying the
computer will restart. this was intiated by NT
AUTHORITY/SYSTEM. I would like to know how to stop this
from coming up randomly and shuting down my computer.
This only happened after i activated it. Could you please
reply soon

You are infected with Blaster.
Go to http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_qr.htm#rpc and download the removal
tool.
Run the tool to remove the worm, then follow the onscreen prompts to download
the patch.
Make sure you download the 32bit patch if you are running XP.

There are more variants out now.
The exes for 2 of the variants are teekids.exe and penis32.exe
Kelly's script kills all known variants.
As more variants are found Kelly and Doug are adding removal instructions to
the script to kill them as well.

If you are having trouble staying up to get the patch and removal tool:
When the shutdown prompt appears,go to start/run and type
shutdown -a to abort the shutdown process to allow you to stay up and
online.

Tris, I was stuck with that same screen...I finally had to
"wipe" my hard drive and start over. I believe we have
been the victims of a virus (worm)called Swen.A. After I
re-installed Windows XP I first installed an Anti virus
program, scanned and found about eight infected files. I
am not knowledgeable enough to offer you a solution but I
think you need to consult a professional.
Good luck. Bob Dalton
