Jeff

My computer is infested with adware/spyware. I cant seem
to get it removed no matter what I try. My biggest
concern is that there is some sort of adware that has
taken over my email. I get emails from myself that I
didnt send. The senders name will be my first and last
name and the subject line will be for Viagra or other
adds. Iam afraid that these emails are going out to
others with my name on it. I want to get this stopped!!!

Other annoyences are the constant popups even when iam
not on line.

Can anyone help? What can I do? Iam about to reinstall
windows and start over!

Thanks
Jeff

Hi Jeff, if you don't know about it already, I would
strongly recommend installing the free Personal Edition
of Ad-Aware from Lavasoft's website

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

Install the program and update the reference file from
the internet and do a full system scan. It will remove a
lot of the spyware on your computer but I cant guarantee
it is going to get everything. It would be a good idea to
save all of you important information from your hard
drive and reinstall windows

If you are getting emails from yourself, I strongly
suggest you scan for the infamous Klez virus and any of
it's variants, also go to McAfees web site, search for the
Avert Stinger, it is a freebee, and contains all the most
current nasty little viruses and the ability to fix them.

And yes try Adaware or spybot search & destroy for your
spyware issues, they both work nicely.

Glenn's advice is good, but the emails you are getting make me think
that you have a virus such as Klez. Since you didn't mention running an
antivirus, you should immediately scan with a current av program, one
that is not older than a 2002 version and using updated definitions.
