I have two XP Pro installations on my hard drive.

I suspect there could be some issues regarding System Restore and paging
files, and some other too.

What practices are recommended in such configuration?

That they both be on separate partitions or drives. XP itself is capable
of mult-booting MS OS's out of the box. Boot.ini lists OS's for XP to
boot. If your boot.ini is mis-configured go here to set yours up...

http://www.sysinternals.com/Information/bootini.html

If you don't want one XP install to see the other XP install look into
Geurt Vos's free XOSL boot manager...

If you installed them both to the same partition - good luck!

Turn off system restore and use ERUNT instead

As for a page file I just have them set to another partition. There's
a setting the GPEDIT.MSC that deletes a pagefile when the OS is
shutdown.

Thank you both!

Yes, each XP is on its own partition.

Hiding one XP from another is exactly what I wanted, I'll check out XOSL.

I'll give ERUNT a go, too.
