Advancing Through Slides

I am using Power Point 2000.
I have placed a navigation button on each slide to be clicked. Sometimes it
moves to the 'next slide' other times, it jumps a slide.
Users who choose to just click "anywhere" on the screen get moved to the
immediate next slide instead of where I want them to go.
Is there a way to cancel this option, so the slideshow will NOT advance
unless the button or hyperlink is clicked?
Thanks in anticipation

Mystic Wolf,
You want to change to a kiosk mode presentation. Do Slide Show--> Set up
show. You have choices of presented by presenter (?wording), presented at a
kiosk, or presented in a window. If you choose kiosk, it will disable the
keyboard and mouse clicks will no longer advance you to the next slide -
only the navigation buttons will move you through the presentation. (Oh,
clarifying; Automatic timings for transitions will move you through as
well.)
