DMA is enabled by default to most of IDE Hard Disk Drives. However to see or
change the settings, see the Properties of IDE Controllers instead of Disk
Drives.

1. Right-Click on My Computer choose Properties
2. Click Hardware - Device Manager
3. Double Click IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers to display the list of controllers
4. Right Click the icon for the channel to which the device is connected,
select Properties, and then click the Advanced Settings tab

There you are.

This where you are supposed to check DMA. Why is it not there?

Because you've installed a special busmaster (Intel Application
Accelerator, for instance). In this case, DMA information will
be supplied by that software.
