Advanced search - How to find something between dates?

On every other version of windows I can remember I was able to search for
files modified between a pair of dates -- for example search for everything
modified from 01/01/04 to 06/30/04. The Vista Advanced search option lets me
pick dates before or after a certain date but not in betweeen. Surely, this
functionality exists somewhere, but I've been unable to find it in playing
around with the search function or in help or on any of these discussion
boards. Hope someone can help me.

Something along these lines in the search box

(modified:>01/01/2004) AND (modified:<06/30/04)

This works here

(modified:>01/01/2004) AND (modified:<30/06/2004)
