Kimberly

Hi,
I tried following the "help" info and it didn't work. What
am I doing wrong??

I have a range, e8:e100. I want to use the advanced
filter to show only those cells in the range which are
average($e$8:$e$100)

The help says that in the criteria (in cell e3, for
example), I should have
=e8>average($e$8:$e$100) .... This evaluates to true

When I select Data|Filter|Advanced Filter, I specify my
list range as e8:e100, and my criteria as e3. Again, in
the help, it says that the formula for the advanced filter
should not have a label (as you usually would for the
advanced filter), so I don't include it.

But when I then apply the advanced filter, the data is not
filter correctly.

Where did I go wrong?? :(

Thanks
Kimberly

Kimberly,

Don't have the answer for you, but check Debra Dalgleish's site at
http://www.contextures.com/xlDataVal07.html, I would vouch that it is better
than Help.

When you select the criteria range, include the blank heading cell, and
the cell with the formula.
