I would really appreciate some advice. I installed SP2 on the weekend and
was able to connect to my ADSL service initially but was unable to do so
after the first session. I restored the system and had no problems once SP2
was gone. I tried again yesterday and encountered the same problem. I get a
message box claiming there is a Error 793 (?), the destination is
unavailable. Thanks for the help.

Is you DSL modem a USB or Ethernet based modem?

USB modems will probably have to have the drivers reinstalled. AND, I would
have it unplugged with installing SP2. You shouldn't have any USB or
peripheral items attached when upgrading to SP2.

Also, make sure your computer is scanned for viruses and then disable the
Antivirus software. Defrag the hard drive. Then install SP2.

Contact your Service Provider for their fix to the login software package. My
ADSL Provider sent me an E-mail a few weeks ago stating to down load their patch
for Windows XP SP2.
I hope this helps.
