ADSL doesn't disconnect- please help!

Hi all, after upgrading from 2000 Professional SP2 to SP3, my ADSL modem
doesn't want to disconnect any longer. So I can't:
1. Disconnect from internet
2. Unmount/unplug it with "remove USB..."
The connection works perfectly otherwise...

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers from scratch, didn't
work. Help please! it crashes every single time, I have to force-shutdown
windows if I use internet...

Could be low on ram as your adsl softwrae grabs as much as it can
