Hi,

I hope this is the right place to ask this question. I just bought a new
computer that is running Windows Media Center 2005. I set up user accounts
for 3 people. My problem is when I import and address book from the old
computer, it imports into all three accounts. This happens no matter which
account I use to import from.

Any idea as to why this is happening?

Thank you in advance for your help

How are you "importing" the addressbook and into what application?

I'm using the import function from the Outlook Express File menu.

I have sort of worked around the problem by setting up a different identity
in Outlook Express. I have never had to do this before. Each user account
should be separate and so should the applications within.

Thanks for the response.

Try importing via Address Book File menu instead.

Each User Account will have a separate OE identity by default.

I did try importing right from the address book, but still had the same
problem.

That is what I always experienced with past XP systems, but not this time. I
have both XP Home and Pro on two different systems, and did not have this
problem. Maybe Media Center is different, or it was a bad install from HP.

Thank you for responding and I will read up on all of the links you provided.

All identities in one (1) User Profile share a common Address Book (cf.
Shared Contacts folder).

I suggest that you make further posts about new OE problems to an
OE-specific newsgroup, instead, Jack. I'm crossposting this reply to the
OE6 newsgroup. Please continue this crossposting via Advanced Options
(lower-right of the Reply window when using the web interface).
