Adobe Type Manager not uninstalling in XP

While installing ATM on winxpsp2, I removed all default
installed fonts, installed one particular font, and tried to
access a just installed font without first restarting windows.

It gave some errors, so I have to restart it.

It is not working ever since.

When I run it, it is always asking for serial no., but even
after giving serial no, it is not showing any font, saying that
ATM is not running.

While trying to uninstall it, it says "it can't restart windows
automatically to uninstall the program, so I need to do it
manually", but even after restarting or logging off the windows
upteenth times, it is not uninstalling it.

While trying to reinstall it front Cd, it is saying "one
previous unfinished uninstall is detected. restart windows."

I am stuck. Does anyone know how to make it work.

I guess winxp is storing "uninstall" tasks somewhere, from where
it is picking that info, and not proceeding. How can I delete
that info so as to make it reinstall afresh.
 
If I'm not misteken, I tink I read the other day that ATM wont work
with XP and SP2, cjheck the Adobe web site to be sure
