Have you tried asking Adobe?

John

ty, I had the same identical problem. Here's what I did.

In the Control Panel, Adobe Reader 7.0.5 was
shown as being installed, and an update shown under it. It would not
uninstall through the Control Panel, I did a search for the file and it did
not show up. I finally downloaded the Windows Install Cleaner from
Microsoft, opened it, and there was Adobe Reader 7.0.5 shown. Not sure of
what I was doing, I took a BIG chance, and gambled. I deleted the file. I
went back, downloaded Adobe Reader 8.0, and it installed without a hitch.
No problems. MS Windows Install Cleaner notifies you there is no backing up
once you hit the delete button. But, for me it worked. The gamble paid
off.

You will have to download and run the MS Windows Install Cleaner. You will
find the Adobe your looking for there.
I hope this helps.

John, my experience was that I may as well go outside and talk to a lamp
post. At least I could reach the post. The MS Cleaner will do the job for
him.

have also problem with flash player. They said that version 6.0.79.0
installed ,also in add remove program I have the last version of flah player
but nothing work.
Try to contact Adobe without succes on this proble.
Thanks if anybody has some clue

Andre, do the same thing I told "frustrated", except look for Flash Player
and get it out of your computer. I was told though that Flash Player ver.
9. had a bug of some sort in it that could screw things up, and Adobe wasn't
doing anything about it. This may have changed.

I have grappling with this problem for weeks, similarly Adobe were no use at
all, Bob's suggestion worked well, thank you

Would like to thank you - the Windows Installer Cleaner (curiously, in
Microsoft OFFICE downloads??!!) worked absolutely fine - excellent!! Adobe -
nuked.

Given the well-documented "uninstall" problems with Adobe - from another
site I gleaned even better info - FOXIT pdf reader (free, from
http://www.foxitsoftware.com ) does everything that Adobe currently does for
me, with various advantages - loads up faster, plus, it's only 1.54Mb
(versus 64Mb for Adobe Acrobat 7)
Loaded up and running within minutes - IMPRESSIVE !! I'll not be going back
to Adobe - too much hassle!!
Thanks again for the info Silvabod
