Whenever the pc is strated (restarted), the administrator
account automatically logs on. How can I change it so this
doesn't happen? I usually am logged on with a password
protected account, but all anyone has to do is restart the
pc and they can use it.
Thanks in advance.
First off, if you're concerned about other people using your
computer, you should add a password to the built-in
Administrator account. Even if you change it so that the
Administrator is not automatically logged on they can still log
on with this account. Adding a password to this account at
least makes it more difficult to use your computer.
Next, to stop that account from automatically logging on you
can use either of these procedures.
Option 1.
Download and install TweakUI from Microsoft.
Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx
Direct Download of TweakUI
http://download.microsoft.com/downl...a6-b352-839afb2a2679/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe
Once the program is installed, go to Start -> All Programs ->
Powertoys for Windows XP -> TweakUI.
In the left hand column, click on the + sign next to Logon.
Click on Autologon.
Remove the check mark next to "Log on automatically at system
startup".
Click OK.
Reboot your system to see if you get the desired results.
Option 2.
Go to Start -> Run and enter the following in the Open box,
control userpasswords2
In the User Accounts dialog, put a check mark in the box next
to "Users must enter a user name and password to use this
computer".
Click OK.
Reboot to see if you get the desired results.
Good luck
