From time to time I get an error msg, that says something to the effect of
"contact your administator", or "you don't have permission (sufficient
access), contact...", or something similiar. I am the only user, running xp
pro, and set as the administator user acct. Do I need to do something else
to get administator permission?

Scan your system for malware causing this problem. When found, you've
already lost the control over your system - reinstall Windows from
scratch in that case. In the future, operate with administrator
privileges only when necessary. Note that any malware operates with the
same privileges as you have when using your account. Note also that
today's malware knows how to bypass an anti-virus. If there are no hits,
your system is not necessarily clean.

Thanks for the info, I do this quite regular. But I guess I should have
stated originally that I get this msg when trying to access internal system
options, or customazations (sp?), or in outlook 2003 the macro section. These
are files that someone without administrator priviligies could not access.

You have administrator privileges by default when logging into your
"administator user acct." and therefore, you can access all system
options and files by default.

However, your privileges can be limited by malware running under your
account as well as by another administrator who does not exist since you
are the only user. Sorry, but what's so hard to understand?

Sorry, DD, you still don't understand the question. If I get an error msg
that says,
"error has occurred, if this continues contact your administrator", (which
I know is just a standard msg), it would be the same as, "this network
resource is not available please contact your adm.", that would be the same
as "an error has occurred, you do not have permission to access please
contact your adm.", if this is a folder I should be able to access, how do I
get permission to access. I'm sorry if I was not clear, but in a community
where people are this smart, I did not think I had to draw a picture.

Messages like that are completely different issues and have nothing in
common with your original posting (see excerpt) and the subject line.

Ok, good luck.

OK, I give up,
origingal question:
"you don't have permission (sufficient access), contact..."
clarification msg:
"an error has occurred, you do not have permission to access please
contact your adm.",

They look the same to me.

I consider this post closed, and will not respond again.

Logon to an account which is a member of the administrators group.
