There are programs on my drive which I cannot update, repair, delete, etc
because I do not have 'administrator or power user authority'. I have turned
off uac, I do have administrator authority as the only profile on the
computer. If no one can come up with a fix, then what is the safe easy was
to return to windows XP? At least there I could access my programs and files.

try
right click on folder>properties>security>advanced>permissions or
ownership>allow

Don, when I right click on folder, properties, security, advances, there is
an 'owner' tab which allows me to make myself the owner, but permissions will
not provide authority to access the folder. Don't know what I'm doing wrong,
but XP is surely looking better and better.

Try removing 'Everyone' from that list if it's listed

I haven't seen this myself (yet) but I've read posts from others who say
that turning UAC back *on* helps with certain programs. No, I have no
idea which programs, but apparently there are a few. In other words,
UAC may have different effects on different software packages,
especially if you are running software which wasn't intended to run on
Vista.

Sure like the way MickeyMouse comes up with terms like "power user". What
the fsck is a "power user"? All computers use power. This seems to be a
designation that means as much as "MVP". A pure invention by some marketing
guy at MickeyMouse who thinks that stroking some users ego is going to make
him/her even more of a M$ Fanboy. Hmmm, I guess marketing does work. Lots
of Fanboys hang around here that like to be designated as "power user"
and "MVP". Same folks tend to be the same ones that lack enuf computer
smarts to get Linux running.

Love and Kisses,
Doris

Doris, please stick to your normal Lesbian & Gay Rights discussions
stay off the linux/microsoft subjects .
you are much better at telling your peers how to perform oral sex then
you are at operating system software.
