I have a laptop with no cd-rom or floppy drive, and my
little brother changed the password for the administrator
account and forgot what it was. I tried to get in using
safe mode but it still wants a password. Besides buying a
cd-rom or external floppy and reinstalling XP is there a
way to get in to change these back. Thanks for the replies

After you've extracted yourself from this embarassing
situation, start planning ahead and treat your PC
like your car. You would never tolerate having just
one set of car keys, and you should never tolerate
having just one admin account.

I have a question regarding having more than one "administrator" account.
The first part of the question is: Is it possible to log-on using the name
administrator? The name administrator shows as a user in the MMC but is not
available in the log-on screen at boot. The second part: When is the
administrator password set? I tried to use the "Run As" administrator and it
will not allow me because it seems the passwords are not correct. I have
never actually set a password for the "administrator" user. I have my own
user name as an administrator but that is all.

Hope all of the question is clear!!
Thanks

JT;
The default Administrator is hidden once another account is created.
If you never set an Administrator password, leave it blank and you
will get in...but anyone else can get in that way also.
Reboot to Safe Mode:
Reboot tapping F8 each second.
Select Safe Mode at the menu.
Select Administrator.
Then go to User Accounts in Control Pane;.
From there you can select Administrator or another and set/change
passwords as well as other functions.
