i recently let my cousin use my desktop and somehow he
managed to change my administrative password on windows
home xp. neither one of us knows how he did it, and he
doesn't know what the password could possibly be. i heard
from a friend that the only way to get around this problem
is to buy a new windows xp program and install it. is
this true, or will i still need to know the password?
otherwise, does anyone know how to get around this
predicament?

thank you!

Sincerely,
stephen wilenius

Use linux knoppix (a bootable distribution) for save your data on a cd-r,
then use dban to wipe your hd and remove win Xp. After this you'll be able
to Reinstall windows Xp later (you need to have an original cd)
During the new installation, I suggest you to create 3 partitions on your
hard driv
(one for win xp, one for data and the last for Linux)
Nkpower

In Mac OS X you are able to reset the admin password from the OS X boot disk. As bad as Macs are you mean to tell me that XP has NO similar feature?
