I am using windows xp professional. The administrator password got changed
and now we do not remember it. We do not have any other user accounts setup
on the computer, so I cannot get past the logon screen. Is there a way to get
the password or to get on the computer without the password?

PLease help asap!

Thanks!

Additionally it's not a good idea to use the built in Administrator
account for day to day activities. That should be reserved in case the
operational account is damaged. Then you can login the Administrator
account and create a new one or effect repairs.

Once you get the password issue straightened out, create at least one
other user account with administrator level privileges. Login to that
account at least once. Then you can copy the data and settings from the
built in Administrator account to this new one. Use the new one for
normal operations.

Use NTpasswd and change the Administrator password to a blank. Now log
into that account and go to the User Accounts applet. Change the
Administrator password back to something you will remember. Create an
additional failsafe account while you're at it. You should never have
just one account on a system; if it becomes corrupted there will be
Tears Before Bedtime.
