I am using Win XP Home SP2 with all updates present.
I recently had a problem with my PC as the PSU, Motherboard and my 2 IDE
HDDs all died somehow. I have replaced the PSU and motherboard (a newer ASUS
board as the old one was no longer available). Fortunately, my C drive with
the OS on was on a SATA drive which was unaffected by whatever happened.
That is the history, now the confusion.
Previously, with the old system, I was never provided with the Administrator
log in at the start up login window (obviously, as I was using Win XP Home).
With my newer system, it is still not there when I start up, but if I use
Windows Key + L to switch from a logged in account to another, I am provided
with an Administrator log in option.
I have never been able to get into it as it will accept neither a null
password, nor any other of my usually used passwords that I can think of.
First of all - how is this possible with XP Home?
Is it just a funny bug which gives the option but will not allow you to do
anything with it?
Should I be able to get into the Administrator account from the login window
when it appears, as described above?
Thanks for any help
