My husband and I bought a computer from my father's company after they
recycled them. They removed all necessary programming sensitive to the
organization bu tleft Windows XP and the Office Suite for us. The problem is
that they left the computer under an Admin sign on that we cannot break. As
you know this leaves the computer virtually useless to us except for general
Word Precessing. Is there a way to by-pass teh Admin sign on and set up our
own so that we can actually use the computer?

This doesn't make sense. Local admin is king. Hold the shift key while
logging off to logon a another user.

Wrong, if you can "Sign On" using the admin account, then you can also
change the password as an ADMIN.

Call dad's company and ask for the password and while you are at it ask for
the installation CD or information needed to get one from the manufacturer
because you will need it in the future.

We can log on using my father's old log on as a regular user on the computer.
The Admin password given us will not work therefore we cannot manipulate the
computer. We cannot upload or download anything. I cannot even change the
time on my own computer.

That's not what you first posted. If you want to logon as an
Administrator you will have to call the company.

If you're logging on as a prior account, did you try not logging on to
the DOMAIN account and using the Administrator/Local computer without a
password? They might have cleared the local password so you could setup
anything you wanted - but you don't need a domain account to take
control of the machine.

If you don't have the CD's / License papers you don't have a valid copy
of the software anyway - so you could always wipe/reinstall with new.

Hi,

If the password is lost or forgotten it can be reset using Active@
Password changer utility. That is a really useful tool that never
failed me before and worked really great. It's usage is simple. That
should really help in such a situations.
