Hi All,

Is it possible to have a Terminal Services embedded
system that does not have an "Administrator" account but
does have an admin user account? The reason I ask is that
one of our customers does not allow the "Administrator"
account on their system.

Thanks,

Dwayne

Do you mean an account with administrator privs but called something
else? Yes, you can set a user account up as an administrator by changing
the account type in the advanced settings.

That I knew, but needed a way to either delete or disable
the Administrator account "Administrator" which I found
out can be done as outlined in this KB article.

The other way to get to the Computer Managment console not
shown in the article is to enter the following at the Run
line: compmgmt.msc

Thanks.

Dwayne,

IIRC the intitial Windows XP Administrator acount gets renamed to the
first account set up under the OS image. This can be accomplished
using the TD "User Account" component settings in Advanced | CMI
details.

Dwayne,

You may not want to disable built-in Administrator account (if you do, I would suggest you to test the image very much).

But you can rename the account on post-FBA image (you mentioned you want an admin user account anyway). Either with User Account
Manager GUI or you can script it by using console User Manager (cusrmgr.exe).

All,

My IIRC comment was definitely incorrect -- the original Administrator
account just becomes hidden when a new account is created. The MMC
User administration plug-in shows the original Administrator account.
Before the image is resealed we disable the Administrator account and
mark the new account with administrator priveleges as having "password
never expires".

Sorry for the brain fault, Roy
