When can I change administrator's password safely - I
heard that it is a pretty tricky thing to do - not by
default!!!

What I would do is create a user account without a password, and make it
a member of the Administrator's group. Then, reboot and make sure you
can log in as that new user without a password, and that it does indeed
have Administrator privileges.

Once you are sure the new account works and has Administrator
privileges, you can safely change the regular Administrator's password,
because you will have a 'back door' into the system should something go
wrong.

Once you have changed the regular Administrator's password, and are sure
that it works okay, give a strong password (as you did with the regular
Administrator's account) to the new user that you created. In this way,
all the accounts with Administrator-level privileges will have strong
passwords.
