I added a password to the administators account on
windows XP. I wrote down my password and double checked
and it worked okay.
Administator account showed up on start up screen. Now
the administrator account won't accept my password and
and does not show up on my start up screen. What happened
and can I fix this without formatting and starting over?

Roland;
Did the Administrator account disappear after you created a new
account? That is normal.
Reboot, tapping F8 each second.
Choose Safe Mode at the menu.
Select Administrator
If you want to copy the data from Administrator to other account:

If the password does not work:
The password is Case Sensitive.
Check Caps Lock and try various of Capital combinations.

Or
Reboot to Safe Mode, select Administrator, leave password blank.
Then go to User Accounts in Control Panel.
Select the user and change the password.
If you are using Windows XP Pro and have encrypted data, you may
permanently lose access to the encrypted data.

Another option is to install Windows XP on another partition and take
Ownership of your data.
You could also perform another installation on the same partition,
although this is not a permanent fix and it is recommended to perform
a Clean Installation after retrieving your data.
