Hi. I reformated my Alienware computer with XP
Professional. I can't seem to access the usual Welcome
screen that allows my other users onto the computer.
When the computer boots up, it seems to allow only the
Administrator account. I know how to set up other users
to be Administrators... but Windows XP Prof doesn't seem
to allow me to select this. Is it possible it's a Group
Policy issue?

Go to Control Panel, User Accounts. That's where you create additional accounts. If you don't see this entry, or receive an error when you try to access it, post back with more information. Group Policies wouldn't cause this, unless you put them into effect yourself.

I can create new user accounts... but the Welcome screen
doesn't seem to popup and when Windows XP Prof reboots,
it goes automatically to the Administrator account (even
though, there are other users who have Administrator
Privileges). But if you can, log off the administrator
and switch to the other users.

So what i'm trying to achieve is:

1) the welcome screen at start up
2) the removal (or hiding) the Administrator account

Click Start, Run and enter CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2 Check the box Users must enter a username and password.........
