I have two admin accounts on my XP professional, one is the built in admin
account (administrator) and the other is my personal account. No matter which
account I sign on with, if I go to make changes to the registry I get a
message that states I do not have the rights to edit this key. Any ideas?

This might help, though after being shot down in flames for an earlier
post, I must admit I'm reluctant to offer help in this group, however
well intentioned.

So I will let you work out what can be done from the link.

Check out the registry key section about taking ownership. It will
also tell you who is the owner at present.

1) thanks for your reply and dont worry about being shot down in flames. A
few things that I have noticed is that for every one person who tries to
offer a solution there are twenty behind playing monday morning quarterback.
everyone is an expert after the fact. Havent had a chance to try your
suggestion as I am wandering down a different path, looking at possible
corrupt keys in my registry. I have found some sw to analyze the db and it
has pointed out a number of "bad" keys. I think that might have something to
do with my problem as well as another problem that has yet to be solved,
namely personal settings (on a different account) taking anywhere from 15-20
minutes to load. I am loathe to delete that account as it is the only one
that truly has admin rights to this machine. Short of formatting and
re-installing I am trying to "fix" the machine.
