Address Bar- Google question

I have Google set as my preferred search- in fact in the address bar it
shows www.google.com but when I type something in the address bar, like
"tubes"
it brings up a search engine I haven't heard of. Should I always type what
I am looking
for in the Google toolbar ???

Hello Brenda
If I have understood your question correctly go to:
www.google.com/options/defaults.html
This provides tools, so that you can set google as your default search
engine.

Also Internet explorers search engine can be turned off by selecting:
Tools
Internet Options
Advanced
Search from Address Bar
and picking the Do Not Search option
