My address bar is gone from windows, IE and all viewing
windows eg) My Computer

I tried various things to restore the toolbar but it
doesnt work. Address Bar is check in the toolbar settings
and is I made show its not hiding on the sides or
anywhere else.

It disappeared first from IE when I was surfing a site.
THe site installed a cab file of somesort. When I
restarted the PC all my address bars where gone.

I tried SFC and still no luck.
How do I repair windows from BOOT UP? In Win2k there was
a fast automatic repair which I dont see in WinXp.

My system restore point is after my day my address bar
dissapeared..

Any ideas to fix this would be most greatful

Have you tried this yet?
Toolbars missing in Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/ToolbarRepair.Exe

From an earlier post:
Have you tried opening Run | typing in » sfc /scannow « that will replace
any corrupted files and make sure that the files XP needs to operate are
installed. Your XP CD needs to be in the drive for this procedure. There
is no information box when it finishes.

If that doesn't work, you may want to try a repair install, see » Do a
Repair Install of XP - by Michael Stevens
http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm#warning1

Try this procedure and reset the toolbar setting from Registry

- Close all browser windows (Important)
- Open registry editor (start>run>regedit.exe)
- goto the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar

There are 3 sub keys: Explorer, ShellBrowser, WebBrowser

In each of these sub-keys is the entry for ITBarLayout

For IE Toolbars: The WebBrowser Sub-key directly affects IE.
For Windows Explorer Toolbars: The Explorer Sub-key directly affects
Explorer.
The ShellBrowser sub-key may affect IE as well. Its effect on IE and Windows
Explorer is unknown at this time, so if the first option doesn't work,
delete the ITBarLayout value here as well.

Choose the relevant sub-key and right click where it says ITBarLayout and
select Delete.

The deleted value will automatically be recreated for you.

Automated fix available for dowbload from:

http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_toolbarfix.htm

(OR)

Delete the Key "Toolbar"
Restart Windows. The toolbar configuration is not reset to defaults.

=======

Download IE Addressbar fix from here:
http://www.angelfire.com/dragon/sramesh2k/reg/IEToolbar.reg

Deletes the following registry key; Resets Toolbar, Addressbar positions to
defaults. Restores hidden/missing bars:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar
