I recently upgraded from the Home Edition of XP to the Professional. I am not sure if that is when it happened...I think so

The "Go" button no longer works unless I type the complete "http://www." address. I used to be able to type only the http portion. The machine used to "autocomplete" the address line as well. I have check the settings in "tools" and reset everything to default, re-started the computer, etc, etc. Nothing seems to help

I know it seems like a small problem...but I want this to work as it is supposed to do

Thanks.

Excuse me...I meant...I used to be able to type only the "www" portion of the address and leave out the "http.

At any rate, the "go" button does not function without the "http://" portion of the web address

Thanks!

Check the below Registry entries vs. yours:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\DefaultPrefix]
Default="http://"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\Prefixes]
"ftp"="ftp://"
"gopher"="gopher://"
"home"="http://"
"mosaic"="http://"
"www"="http://"

I tried all of the other fixes - Spybot, Ad Aware, the cwshredder,
kellys korner - nothing worked. I had to edit the registry to fix it.
The last line in the the previous response fixed me right up.
