Adding Query Design Grid columns in Access 2007

I have tried to insert a new column by highlighting the column and selecting
Query Design in the Ribbon but Insert column remains inactive. In fact, I
have not found any time when Insert column or Delete column is an active
button.

Thanks for your help in advance.
 
If you run out of data columns and want to insert more, highlight one of the
data columns in the design grid and press the Insert key.
