adding new slide without slide layout panel opening

When I click on "New Slide" the slide layout panel on the right opens. I
know there's a way to disable this so that the slide opens without the panel
but I can't find this option. Can anyone help? I'm working with PPT 2002.

I found it. Right there at the bottom of the panel. I was looking everywhere
else.
 
Glad you found it, Rich. Stuff like that is easy to miss -- especially at
the bottom of those task panes!
 
Yep, right in front of my eyes. I was in the tools-options section for a few
minutes with no luck and couldn't quite figure out where else to look, so I
posted to the newsgroup. Right after that I saw it. Something about posting
makes me look a little harder, or maybe a little smarter. (:->)
