I'm new to adding videos to powerpoint documents and I need your assistant.
I found a video from a television news show program that I'd like to use for
a presentation that I'm helping my sister with for a college nursing class
she's taking. I can see the video, but I don't know how to add the video
into the powerpoint slide presentation. Can anyone help a novice out.

From the menu Insert > Movies and Sounds > From File

The problem is with Powerpoint. I too have tried inserting a wmv, an asf and
an avi file into PPT via 'Insert Movie'->'Movies & Sounds'->'Movie from file'.
Locally, on my compuiter, the presentation works fine. But when shipping the
presentation to any other computer - it doesn't work. The reason is that PPT
holds the link locally. To see this, go to the slide with the movie, right
click on the movie object and select 'Edit Movie Object'. You will see that
PPT lists the file locally as perhaps c:\movies\movietoplay.wmv which won't
resolve on any other computer.

So the question is, how does one pack a movie file into a PPT for viewing
elsewhere?

The trick is to put the movie file in the ** same folder ** as your
presentation .ppt file. THEN insert it

Then when you ship it, ship both the pres and the movie files.

Instruct the user to save them in the same folder.

Make sure the folder path length is not longer than 128? (or is it 256)
characters long

otherwise powerpoint will not find the movie
