Hello,

I recently created a new user via Users and Computers on Windows 2000
Server. I then went to the client/user's computer and signed in via the login
prompt. (By the way, the computer is ruinning on Windows XP Professional.)The
User is able to acess the network, applications, able to save files, read
documents, etc. I then created a network pathway to a particular folder on
another computer within our intranet. It is exclusive to only 3 Users. The
user is able to open the pathway, but is "denied access" to any of folders
within the pathway.

Can someone please tell me how to fix this? I am aware that it is some type
of permissions/security issue, but I have drawn a blank, and have turned
elsewhere for help.

You have to give the new user access to the folder under permissions on the
folder they should have read / write access and if need be delete permissions.

I have given them rights to the folder. The client has access to the folder,
but not to the subfolders.

When you set the permissions up did you apply it to the root folder and all
sub folders in xp it is in the advanced settings in the sharing and
permissions settings. It has been awhile since i worked on 2k but i remember
that ther was a check box to apply permissions to all sub folders, another
thing you might want to rey is on the 2k box take ownership of the folder and
then reset the permissions for the folder and all sub folders.
