Hi,

I am looking at adding a Windows 2003 server as an additional domain
controller in an existing Windows 2000 server domain. I have looked at the
technet article KB278875 (http://support.microsoft.com/?id=278875) and was
wondering if anyone has tried this and, if so, is there anything I should
watch out for.

As the existing DC is the FMSO and not having done this before, I'm a little
concerned :)

Thanks for any help or advice.

Paul

Nothing to it.

Just make sure you're logged on as enterprise admin (or an admin that is
able to modify the schema) and run the adprep /forestprep followed by a
short interval for replication and adprep /domainprep.

There can be issues with exchange. See the link at the bottom of the
article you referenced for more info.

The 'scary' things in this KB are just in case there's any problems -if
there are you don't want to replicate them throughout your forest!! Just
make sure you've a full backup before you do this ;-)

Paul.
