Anyone know of a way to add the version number to a document, like that used
in auto text.

ie.. This is Version #(version number here)

If you want the "revision number" (as Word defines it), you can use a RevNum
field, but this merely indicates the number of times a document has been
saved. If you want a more meaningful version number, create a custom
document property, save the version number in that property, and use a
DocProperty field to insert it.

If you are actually using Word's File>Versions feature (as opposed to Save
As<<newname>> to create separate files), AutoText will insert the same info
as appears in version's Title Bar. You can also use the Insert AutoText
button on the Header/Footer toolbar.

Thanks, that works great ... Is there a way to get the DocProperty to
auto-update?

I tried the macro that toggles from print preview and back (using the
auto-update option), but to know avail... Versioning seems kinda buggy, but
still worth using..

If you're using Word's versioning feature, then I can't help you, as I would
touch that with a ten-foot pole!
