Add/Remove progs.

Is the same AVG icon used in the other shortcuts pointing to
this particular application? If so, find the application, such
as locating it in the start menu or wherever, and change the
icon to the proper one. OTOH, if the AVG icon is showing in
just the Add/Remove applet, then uninstall, re-boot and then
re-install the application. Hopefully, it chooses its own icon.

Great question and a great tip. Actually it's a simple solution but
something most people wouldn't know.
To change an icon associated with an application in 'Add or Remove
Programs':

* Open Regedit, navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

* Expand the 'Uninstall' folder, locate & click on the application's folder
you want to change

* In the right pane, right-click & select 'New' > 'String Value', type
DisplayIcon

* Double-click DisplayIcon, type in the location of the icon
example: C:\Documents and Settings\yourname\My Documents\Icon
Files\google.ico

Note:
If the icon resides in the application itself, type the location of the
application in 'Program Files'.
example:C:\Program Files\Nero 7\Core\nero.exe

* Exit Regedit, close & reopen Add or Remove Programs
