I have an HP Pavilion with Windows XP Home sp2. When I open up add/remove
programs there are about 10 programs listed at the top and then there is a
black section and if I scroll down ther is a narrower brown section on top of
the black followed by a blue and white section that keep getting narrower.
Then they all widen out until the rest of the programs are listed at the
bottom under all the colors. I have scanned it with Adawre, Spybot,
Highjackthis, Trojan Remover and Internet Security. Removed all found
entries but still have not found the cause. Before trying a repair install
of Windows and then possibly wiping the hdd clean, is there any other
direction to look at? Thanks, Jim

Believe it or not, Jim, this is NORMAL. I know, I know...
You do not need to worry about malware on the basis of this fluke.

Hi Jim,

This is NOT normal, but does happen and is program specific. To change this
behavior, and please note that this is generally due to the DisplayIcon
having a negative number.

From here you can either remove the negative number or remove the last
application listed: Start/Run/Regedit

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{}

If per chance you are have AutoCad or AutoDesk installed:
