Add/Remove programmes not working

I have removed all traces of old soundcard files, and the
replacement soundcard appears to be working OK.
There are still references to the old soundcard in
Control Panel/Add/Remove Programmes. (Sonic Xplosion)
Any ideas how I can get rid of these?

Pump the F8 key at start-up,takes you to the safe-mode
screen.Go in as administrator,remove them in safe
mode,then boot into regular windows.
