After reinstalling Win XP Home the Add/Remove Program
Tool doesn't work. How do i solve this (preferably
without having to reinstall everything again)?

Kind Regards

Could you please define what you did and what happened more precisely so
that we can help you?

- Do the programs not show in Add/Remove Program?
- Did you reinstall the OS over itself or in a new folder?
- Did you do a Repair Install?
- Do you run the Add/Remove Program from Control Panel and it refuses to
remove the program? Or does it report that the program is no longer located
where it was?

A while ago, I got problem with the Blaster virus and the computer kept on shutting down all the time (RCP). At the time, I did not know how to solve the problem and one advice I got was to format the hard drive. That I can do so, I deleted the partition and everything on the HD. I created a new partition (Raw1) and made a “clean†install with the help of Windows XP Setup Boot Disks. The only problem during the installation was that two files could not be found (xpsp1res.dll and wmerrenu.dll).
After the installation, Windows worked fine accept the Add/Remove Program Tool. The icon was shown in the Control panel but when I clicked on it, nothing happened. Then I tried to do an in-place upgrade, or reinstallation (repair installation) of my Windows XP Home Edition (OEM). That solved the problem with the Add/Remove Program Tool but then other problems raised. The computer got very, very slow and I kept on getting a blue screen that talked about problems with the BIOS (I think). I did everything all over again but I have not done the repair installation because the computer works quite well, with the exception of the Add/Remove Program Tool that, again, will not work. I have used Norton Anti Virus with the latest updates and used tools to remove the viruses. The computer seems to be clean.
It is quite a complicated story but I hope it will give you some valuable clues. Thanks for your support. It is much appreciated (apologies for any language errors).
