Help please! I have seen this problem mentioned many times here, but none of
the solutions given have helped me. In the "Add/Remove" dialog box, I have a
large white space and some strange shapes that are causing me some
aggravation. The white spaces and strange shapes are located in the "M's" and
every things I have tried have not solved the problem. Any suggestions?

Some of the things I have tried are:

Kelley's Tweaks, line 226.
Checking for negative numbers in the Display Icon values in Regedit.
Removing the last item in the uninstall section of the Registry.

Tedious, but: with regedit look at the Uninstall key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

I would start by File - Export so you can revert if experiments foul up

Then look down all the many subkeys for one with a 'Display name' that
is exceptionally long - I can't off hand remember for sure, but I think
over 64 characters. Then delete any keys with overlong (or generally
weird) Display names - or edit the Name to something sensible

Thanks for your reply. I had already found the solution to my problem and
posted my findings here yesterday, I think. It was similar to the solution
you gave, however, I found that by using the Add/Remove Program dialog box
and the Registry together, comparing the "DisplayName" key in the Registry
with the entry in Add/Remove Program worked perfectly. I deleted the
"DisplayName" key only (not the entire uninstall information) of the entry in
the Registry that did not have a corresponding entry in Add/Remove Program
and all the white space and strange colors and shapes disappeared. My culprit
was 'Microsoft Encarta.'

Thanks again, Alex.
