Anyone have a recommendation for an add on that will let you
view the contents of a file in Explorer? Anyone used this one?

Microsoft has a free Word Viewer which you can download from

Good luck

Thanks for replying Ron, but what I'm looking for is an add on that lets
you preview the file in Explorer so you don't have to actually open the
file to see what it contains. I have a user that has hundreds of files and
I told them it was time to do some house cleaning. They were opening every
file to see if it was something they wanted. Talk about burning up the time
card :-)

Well - if it had been saved with a preview - you could see it in "Thumbnail"
view in Windows Explorer/My Computer.
(Admittedly - this isn't a very good way to identify a document unless you
added graphics. hah Too Small.)

QuickView Plus is another option to get through them more quickly.

That little shareware application you linked too is not too shabby.. Would
allow then to quickly down-arrow through a bunch of word documents and
delete as they go. Personally - I would have them burn all their stuff to
CD/DVD first - then show them the "Shift+DEL" and let them go with that
shareware program.

My subject line was obviously misleading. It's been revised.

Which may have broken the "thread" for some people.
Better to leave the subject line intact in the future so that those
following the progression of the thread in a newsreader can do so.
=)

Thanks for the tip Shenan. That never occurred to me.

Thread's perfectly good here, and that's with a REAL news reader.....;-)
