can anyone comment on the usefuleness (value for money) on the vba products
sold on add ins.com site?

I have no experience with any of the products from that site, but I took a
look at a few pages and this is my general, personal opinion. I looked at
the information on their "Spreadsheet Assistant" product. First, presuming
that ZDNET did obtain, review and highly rate the tools, then that speaks to
the wheter or not the add-ins perform as advertised.

Beyond that it becomes a question of whether or not you need the functions
offered - what is their value to you? Many of the features would appear to
fall into the category of "handy shortcuts": one or 2 button clicks to
perform an operation that might take more using native Excel menu operations.
Those kinds of things can be very beneficial to a novice user who doesn't
know their way around the Excel menus or features already available within it.

I also note that many of the things that are offered in the package are
things that have been 'given away' as macros or helpful how to hints right
here in this very forum.

Finally, I do note they have a 'money back guarantee' - read the limitations

I found two websites with that partial address...
http://www.addins.com/
-and-
http://www.add-ins.com/index.htm

There is quite a difference in purpose and price.
I have no first hand knowledge of either.

The one I went to was your second link:
http://www.add-ins.com
I did not examine the first one at all.

Again, like you, I've no first hand experience with the products from the
site I looked at, nor of the other one.

The second site has relevance (add-ins.com)
being new to vba I am allready skeptical if both of you have never heard of
these products.
Secondly my currency is 8-1 and therefore I cannot purchase these products
without any good references!
I'll rather use this site

Thank you

Don't let the fact that Jim Cone nor I have used their products or are
familiar with them. I pretty much write all of my own added functions either
as macros or functions - or even settle for recording a macro every once in a
while for some needs. I suspect that Jim does also.

As I said, many, but not all, of the things I saw at that add-ins.com site
were things that have been developed right here in these forums for free over
time. It's just a matter of finding them again in most cases - or of
reinventing a particular wheel.
