Help!
When I open my Add & Remove Programs (XP SP2 media center edition) most of
the programs have no "remove" and "change" buttons. There are programs I
never loaded, and multiple copies of some, like 10 entries for Norton
Internet Security. the "last used on" dates seem inaccurate: something I've
used recently will have a date of a month ago. I tried MyUninstaller. It
shows only the entries that are intact in Add & Remove. Same for J
V16 Powertools.

Seems as if the more recently installed have the "remove" and "change"
butons, but even this is not consistent

I tried sfc/scannow. It ran all the way through. No help.

I don't have any idea how to restore the Add..Remove or how to uninstall
programs without it (except for the programs mentioned above).

I do have an earlier export of the registry.

any thoughts?

Larry276: I have XP Home edition and had the same damned thing
happen this end about 6 weeks ago. I had just uninstalled the
JV16 Powetools as the trial period was over, when this occurred
and thought perhaps THAT uninstaller caused this to happen. I
have not checked that aspect out as of yet. In the meantime any
recently installed programs HAVE the "remove" and "change"
buttons but the old ones do not have them. Never had this
problem ever before in my 25 years of computing experience. When
I posted my problem received many URLS to check this out but
NONE applied exactly to this specific problem and it's ultimate
solution.

Your problem mirrors mine so closely that there MUST be a
solution out there somewhere.

Me too, I have similar problems, I hav eno icons for older programs, only
recent ones are on the list, and i have no option to change or remove them. I
have used registry cleaner prior, which might be problem. I have tried to
restore but it says can't because no setriings have cjanged. There has to be
a solution...............
