Yes, this is possible.
Select the entire table cell. Then select Format > Borders and Shading >
Borders tab. IN the dialog box, you should see small icons with diagonal
lines (in the rightmost side of the window). Click the icon showing the
desired border direction (note that if you want to change the currently
selected color and line width, you must du that first). Click OK.
The table cell is still one cell only. When you type text in the cell, you
may need to add more paragraphs and align some left and some right in order
to position the text.
