Can someone tell me why I have a RealTex network adapter and a 1394
adapter... Is the 1394 part of SP2?

IEEE1394 is otherwise known as a firewire connection or in Sony speak iLink.

It can be used for networking as well as its more usual use of connecting an
external hard drive or USB drive or digital camcorder..

I summise you also have a Realtek Network Adapter or Ethernet Controller on
your motherboard as well which can be used for standard networking.

If you did not consciously install these adapters, they are an integral part
of your computer. Unless you disable them in the bios (if they are part of
the motherboard - many are) or remove the associated PCI card (if a plug-in
board), you will continue to see these in your network connections window.
