ad restore

hi to every one

i some help i this .

we have two DC one has the schema and the naming service if the AD

and the second on all the others PDC,LIsensing and etc.

in case of restore one of them what is the best to do

a Authoritative restore ,or a nonauthoritative restore ?

i forgote to say that both of the DC are global catalog servers,and i use Veritas backup exec for Backup and restore.
please advise .
 
That depends on what you want to restore? The question is too vague to
answer properly.

Veritas backup exec for Backup and restore.
 
Generally, you'll usually perform an non-authorative restore. Authortaive restore's are only when you need to overwrite the data that is held on the working DCs.

If one fails, and you bring it back on-line several hours later, you'll want it to sync with the other DC, and thus you will perform an non-authorative restore.

i have nothing specila more to say

because i use the veritas backup exec ,it gives by default the non authoritative restore option

i want to know with this configuration of the DCs what is the most better in case that iwant to restore the ad in one of two no matters wich one

i thing too that the non authoritative is the most common ,and after the restore

you make the replication between the two Dcs or you waiting the default scedule .

i just want to know if any knows if something special that matters in cases that you have two Dcs that they are share properly the AD services .
