AD equivalent to Server Manager?

I just recently migrated my network from NT4 to W2K
native. I'm really missing the functionality of Server
Manager from NT, which allowed me to see comprehensive
information about shares, connections and sessions to
shares, and the ability to manipulate those items. I can't
seem to find anything like that in AD or elsewhere. Is
this another case of MS creating a "new" OS with LESS
functionality than the "old" ones? Or am I just a dunce?

You can use Computer Manager with some and lot of more futures. You can
right click a particular server or computer in AD Users and Computers and
click Manage. Or start the Computer Manager Console and connect to any
server or computer.

Christoffer is correct of course, and I too would always recommend the
2000/2003 tools over the NT ones ('cause they're better), but if you really
want server manager then just hit start\run...srvmgr. Some of these old
tools are still there!!!

Paul.

p.s. Chris, your website looks really great. I'll be looking in often, I
think...

Yes that's correct, how ever some features as alerts etc don't work and may
cause the Server Manger to hang, but how ever mostly it works it can still
be use full.

Thanks for the comments for the website, I will spend some more time to put
on more information.

A point worth noting

In Windows 2000, the only way to configure administrative alerts from servers (other than by editing the registry directly) is to use Server Manager..

but seriously, try and spend some time using the new snap-ins. I assure you, once you've been using them a while there's no going back!

I had to configure RAS on an NT 4 DC the other day and I was totally lost. Win2k RRAS is so much better.

No problem, keep up the good work <g>

I was amazed to see you're < 20 years old!!!
