I HAVE INSTALLED THE ACTIVESYNC FROM THE CD TO THE PC AND
WHEN I CONNECT THE CABLE AFTER INSTALLING AND PLACE THE
POCKET PC IN THE CRADLE IT PICKS UP THE CONNECTION ON THE
POCKET PC BUT THEN IT DISCONNECTS AND ON THE DESKTOP PC
ALL I GET IS CONNNECTING IN THE ACTIVESYNC BOX AND THATS
ALL.

I HAVE A WINDOWS 2000 PLATFORM

shhhhh

I am having the exact same problem (it seems). There are no drivers for the
pocket PC that I know of? WinXP Pro finds the USB device when it is plugged
in and triggers Activesync, which just sits there saying "connecting"
forever. I then ran it all on another laptop and it works fine. I guess that
is unless they had some PDA drivers that linked to mine? (they have a
different PDA and cradle etc).
Can you confirm that there would (should) be drivers for the PDA?? I don't
recall ever having any.

There has been an unconfirmed report that if
you're using the NTFS filesystem that ActiveSync
barfs on the security settings embedded in it.

I can say that AS 3.71 works fine with W2K SP2 and SP4
with the FAT32 filesystem, as that's what I use on my laptop
where AS lives.

This is totally wrong. ActiveSynch does not care if the computer is FAT32
or NTFS.

Something tells me that problem does not apply to ActiveSync 3.7.1
though. I am using XP SP2 with a dynamic NTFS volume and have had no
problems ever with SP1, but now with SP2 it crashes frequently (only
when using AvantGo).

Define "crashes," my PC comes to a screeching halt (well, it is very
slow... it takes more than 1.5 hours to shut down) occasionally, and it
is always preceded by my pocketPC disconnecting. I am wondering if it
is the cause.

Is this what you are experiencing?
